My paintings begin with taking the plunge. Working intuitively and without plan is a necessity. The works emerge from the mess: I create a problem and work it toward its own form of resolution. What remains are frozen moments, states in which movement has abruptly halted and inscribed itself as trace in the material. The energy of the process remains visible, transferred into a static form that holds the fleeting like a poem.

I work in two parallel modes: oil on canvas, applied with a palette knife, scraping off or pulling smooth; and acrylic behind non-reflective glass, where pigment flows and the final gradient becomes visible only once the glass is turned.
